Don’t miss the Billboard Music Awards Sunday on NBC. ARMY, it’s here it’s finally here! After weeks of anticipation and teases, K-pop group BTS released their latest album ‘Love Yourself: Tear’ and dropped the music video for “Fake Love” on Friday. “Fake Love” is the lead single, and expresses the idea that true love can only be felt after a person loves themselves. The video for “Fake Love” expands BTS’ creative narrative, with visual imagery that correlates to the lyrics and choreography that reflects the boys’ anguish and the song’s meaning. Within a hour of its release on YouTube, the “Fake Love” video racked up over a million views. BTS is also set to perform the track during the 2018 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday. The album, ‘Love Yourself: Tear’ is a kaleidoscope of emotions and soundscapes, taking the popular group to a darker place, wrapped in reflective EDM and alt-R&B. Many of the tracks have a dark undertone, including both “Fake Love” and pop ballad “The Truth Untold” featuring Steve Aoki, which might come as a surprise to many since it’s a stark contrast from their previous collaboration on last year’s “Mic Drop.” The group even drew inspiration for this album from their momentous career, their ARMY fandom and the world around them. Billboard’s Chelsea Briggs recently sat down with BTS to discuss the message behind the new album and what they’re looking to accomplish with this release. ”What’s the story you’re trying to tell with this album? What do you want your fans to take away? ”We’re trying to say that if you’re in love, when you’re not true to yourself, the love won’t last. That’s what we want to say.” ”Cause love is complex and we always have the dark sides and the sad sides, right?” And as far as what they hope to accomplish with the album, the boys admitted they’re just trying to enjoy the ride and live in the moment although they did express hopes to make it to the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. ”We want to do a stadium tour and maybe the Billboard top 10 but we’re trying to enjoy the ride.” ’Love Yourself: Tear’ is the group’s third LP, and the second part of their ‘Love Yourself’ series. It follow last year’s record-breaking ‘Love Yourself: Her’ EP, which landed the boy band at No. 7 on the Billboard 200, making them the highest-ranked Korean group to date. But right now, I wanna hear from you guys! What’s your favorite song off ‘Love Yourself: Tear?’ And how excited are you to finally see the boys perform “Fake Love” at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday?
