Hello guys, welcome in a new video! Those who follow me on Instagram already know what happened. Last Saturday I went on the track, with Ettorina of course, and I threw myself. By saying it I don’t mean a simple slip but I threw myself up ’cause I had a highside. Lots of people wrote to me in Direct asking me what’s a highside. At first, I was disconcerted but then I thought: “Ok! Some people are not interested in MotoGP!” So, a highside is… I’ll show you one similar. And because I’m on a half-vacation I wasn’t filming at all, ’cause I wanted to enjoy my day. It seems bullshit but even only thinking about the camera, what to say, how to say it, when I have to film… No! I just wanted to enjoy my day but apparently, when you don’t film, anything happens. I’m so pumped for the four hours in Vallelunga Circuit and the new SuperCorsa SC1 tyres. As soon as I put them on I started lapping, I start having fun but I couldn’t drive it the way I wanted to. All of this because I used Dunlop D212/D213 which has a lot more rigid carcass than SuperCorsa’s ones. In fact, I had to work with lower pressure and when you change the tyres you have to change the setting too. After a couple of sessions, trying to find the right setting, a good feeling with the moto without making it, I decided to ask for help. We set the suspensions, with the help of another person, who told me that the suspension setting wasn’t appropriate for the Supercorsa tyres. So, we tried to find the best solution. I went back on the track for three laps, the tyres were heated up enough, also because I was lapping with a 1.52″ pace to heat ’em. Until I arrived at Campagnano corner, I’ll show you a picture of the corner that will help you understand while I explain to you what happened. Arrived at the Campagnano corner I braked and prepared to corner, with the usual trajectory. I never change it. I gave a bit of throttle, slowly, of course, I didn’t go full throttle. Simply, because I felt the suspensions were well set and I could finally close them corners. I give more throttle, more, more, more and more, until… Until, the rear, without notice. Without… Without… Without saying: “Look, I’m going to shake you a little bit, I’m rebelling. “Come bomba dentro montagna”
“Like bomb inside mountain” It… This was the situation, I was… attached to the one in front of me, I was having fun. This is what happened. Here, when I realized the moto was sliding I understood… I went down. Instead. Instead… What happens? -You soon noticed you were falling off.
-But, wait. Because it’s not… What happens? It puts itself in position again. In that moment I thought: “Ohhh! I saved it! Here the TC did his job. I’m so happy!” So it puts itself in position and suddenly it throws me up in the air. From there, I don’t know, maybe I flew for one and a half or two seconds that seemed like an eternity. I landed. The first thing that hit the ground was my chest, the left flank. Then I started rolling. I took this endless amount of hits and I stop in the middle of the grass. The only thing I saw in that moment was… Sky, land, sky, land, sky, land… Sky, land, sky, land. Until I completely stopped. I checked myself, noticing I still had my entire body. I thought: “Okay! I’m alive!” Because… Because I got scared quite a lot. Then, I noticed I didn’t have my boot on. The right one. So, I did the last few rolls without a boot. In fact, I hurt myself both for the hits and the wounds at my foot. Why my boot went off? Let’s go have a look at the clothes! Let’s start with the helmet. I must’ve breakdanced while I was slipping because… Yeah! Clearly, in one of the flips, I must’ve done this with my head on the asphalt. I will fix it ’cause the main hit has been taken by the visor, the rest are just scratches. It didn’t have a strong impact. What about the boots? The left one made us take just some hits to the foot already injured. The right one… Why did it slip off? This is the reason because of the zipper that just split, it’s straight now. Consequently, the stretch got opened and… I lost it. Anyway, the important thing is that it still protected me and luckily it slipped off when I almost stopped. The gloves were fantastic! Nothing happened. Nothing happened to my hands. Nothing, at all. No pain, no wounds. Nothing! They absorbed the impact. Of course, they are ruined and… nothing. I can just say thanks to XL-Moto who sent me these Speedy Carbon Track gloves so, at least, I could save my hands. In the end, there’s the motorcycle suit which is all ruined making it useless to show it to you. It did its job. So guys, remember, this is further confirmation to wear safety clothes and they must have good quality. Especially this! Always wear this one. I know about people getting in the track and saying: “No, I don’t have it! It’s not good, I can’t drive properly…” If you highside landing on your back this one can save your life! Don’t be stupid! Cause you think you can drive better, cause it costs and shit… This costs about 80/90€ (90/100$). You get it, don’t you? Damages on me: I’ve got this one… Just about anywhere. Like I told you I’ve been hit on legs, knees, flank. The most annoying thing is that – you know I slipped and hurt myself some months ago – I got fractures… Luckily I don’t have any of them now but the tendons hadn’t recovered, yet. So because of the hits, my left foot is in pain again. About the right one – now I got some wounds on it but I won’t show you right now, only who’s watched me live on twitch knows how it is – I engaged the 3rd geat, full speed. -3rd gear, full speed. What is it? 170 kph?
-More? About… 200 kph, so… Which damages has the moto? Because until now, on twitch, I talked about me but… I’ve never talked about the motorcycle. Let’s go see it! I’ll sit right here cause I feel pain everywhere and I can barely stand. I look like a fucking penguin, I walk funny. I put them old fairing, here they are, luckily. I was scared to slip and damage the new fairings. But I didn’t change all of them. In fact, in this video there’ a moral too. I’ll tell you that in the end. While I was changing them, because of my laziness, I get bored when it is about screws and stuff. I put on these fairings thinking that if I was about to fall down they would have been the first to get damage and, I just kept the windshield and the fender. That was a big mistake! The windshield got ruined, here. It got scratched, here too. I’ve been lucky. Instead, I’m mad for the new fender cause, maybe it got stuck with the curb and it was torn off and it brought with it everything attached to it. Because inside there are the hoses and the exciter cable, that’s the speed sensor. Luckily the carter cover saved me and, even if it got ruined, who cares? It did its job. Also, the footpeg got broken, but it doesn’t matter cause I have a new one. Let’s move on to the sour note. Here I did the brake lever, but that’s nothing. The ignition lock is safe but, the thing that most makes me mad is the throttle. Furthermore, it’s not the one with the cable but it is electronic. As you can imagine it’s expensive. Handlebar bracket, lever cover… I broke the steering damper, again. It looks like it became my specialty. That’s it! Luckily the damages… Luckily… Ettorina has this damages. When you highside, the moto can move in infinite ways. It threw me up but it fell on the right side and stayed that way. That’s good! How fortunate! I almost reunited all the parts… almost. Thanks to my friends from Victory, I called and I said: “Mattia! I threw up myself in the air, again.”
“Again?! What do you need?” So, he readily sent us all the parts. I have to thank them cause it’s summer, in August. Most of all they save me a lot of money otherwise, every time you fall with this bike it’s… a lot of trouble. In fact, Victory, we need to collaborate cause if it keeps on going like this… You’ll have to buy me a new one. The hell are you laughing for? -Victory, please. I really need…
-Of course, they say thanks to you, you are the reason they can afford a vacation. Launching collaboration -But there’s a moral for this story. What is it? It’s that the Panigale…
-Mattia of Victory: “Yo! My dear friend!” -What’s the moral?
-It’s been a long time… I applied myself to change the fairing, thinking that it was the better solution not to ruin the new ones. But! I did a lot, but I didn’t do a bit more. For my carelessness, thinking: “Do you really think that I can fall down?” To me, this “Do you really think” gets me every time. It’s incredible! It really is! Do never leave things undone. If you start doing something, always finish it. Otherwise, things like the one that happened to me may happen and then you’ll stay there, saying: “I knew it! It took one hour to change them fairings. I could’ve spent 2 more minutes to change them all.” I read so many comments like: “You always fall down!” I fell down twice on the track: the first was the filler fault and this time may be my fault. I’m not one of those who think they’re unlucky. I slipped for a series of consequences, I gave too much throttle, maybe the set had something wrong. in short there must be a motivation when you highside, it’s not someone who wishes for it to happen. It happens! Then I read things like: “I don’t understand why you have to keep destroying your bike! Why do you have to go on the track and do these kinds of things?” It’s useless for me to give you an explanation. If you ask these questions if you don’t understand the reason why a motorcyclist goes on track, deciding not to kill himself on the road giving full throttle, but he decides to go on a track… It’s enough for you to know that if the same thing happened on the road: a) I may have fallen off a cliff b) I may have slammed on a guard-rail c) against a car… That’s the reason why I prefer spending money on a track and fall on a track. Then, if I have to spend 1€, 1000€ that’s none of your business. Because who decides to run on a track know that he may slip causing many and expensive damages to the moto. To all of those “pros” behind a screen, masters of chatting, I’d simply like to say: I pay so I won’t do that on a road and because I want to improve. Every time I go there I’d like to learn something new. If you tell me I’m not a pro pilot so it’s useless to do this, to do that… It’s none of your business! It’s my business. If I want to do it, I do it. If I don’t want to, I don’t. You’re no one to tell me what to do and because I have no problem to say what I think is right, I’ve always been myself on this YouTube Channel, I give you a piece of advice: mind your own business! People do drugs, getting drunk, spending money… going to the disco, snowboarding. There are lots of ways to spend money, I like being thrown up in the air by a moto… In safety. Yesterday I saw a singing TUNA… He was so “inTUNAd” Panigale 1199 for sale
Never been on track
