Two armed robbers strike in the same Bronx neighborhood within 24 hours


Police are searching for two armed robbers who attacked in the same Bronx neighborhood within a day of each other  The back-to-back hold-ups began Thursday when a crook fired off a shot while robbing a clerk at the Gay Grocery Mart on St John Ave. near Prospect Ave. in Woodstock about 5 p.m., police said. Advertisement  Workers told cops that the suspect, who was sporting a red hooded sweatshirt, black pants and red sneakers, stormed into the convenience store and flashed a gun  “Give me everything you have! Put it in a bag!” the man screamed as he waved his weapon around, police said  A store employee handed over $500 from the register and an iPhone 8 Plus to the gunman, who fired a shot toward the back of the store before running off with an accomplice waiting outside No one was hit, police said.  .  Sixteen hours later, about a mile away, another man robbed a 47-year-old woman as she pulled out money from an ATM at an Banco Popular bank on Southern Blvd near Westchester Ave.  “Give me your money! I have a gun!” the crook demanded as he swiped $400 coming out of the ATM and the woman’s bank card, police said  He never displayed the gun before running off, cops said.  The thief, believed to be in his 30s, was sporting a beard and wearing a black hooded jacket, red pants and black sneakers, police said No injuries were reported in either case.
